London City Airport (LCY) is the most centrally located of London`s seven commercial airports and is ideal for anyone visiting the city for business or for pleasure. Because of this, in the 24 years since opening in 1988, the airport`s traffic has grown considerably. It now sees a steady flow of almost three million international passengers a year through its terminal. With flights to over 40 destinations worldwide, it is the fifth busiest airport in the London area and the 15th busiest in the UK. It is especially busy during winter months when it is used to reach top ski resort destinations such as Geneva, Zurich and Milan.
London City Airport`s single terminal is designed to make any journey efficient and stress free. It is set up to allow quick and east transit from check in to boarding and passengers can use the latest of technologies to check in and pass through the airport`s automated ticket and passport barriers.
All passengers have access to free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal and have a selection of eating, drinking and shopping facilities to choose from to help pass the time in the waiting lounge. In addition, there are business facilities available, Bureau de Change and extensive facilities for assisting disabled passengers and those with babies and young children.
Central London is more accessible from London City airport than from any other. Located only six miles from the City of London and just east of Canary Wharf, the city`s two trading hubs, the airport is the top choice for visiting professionals. Being just a short journey from central London`s top attractions, it is also increasingly popular with tourists.
Travelling onwards into the capital, there is a wide range of public transport to get any passenger to where they need to be.
The airport, located in Travel Zone 3, has been served by the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) since 2005. Its DLR station adjoins the terminal building, allowing great ease of access. It is perfectly located for access to Stratford International station, site of the Olympic Park. From the DLR there are also interchanges to the London Underground, the London Overground and Southeastern trains, giving access to the whole of London and beyond.
In addition the airport is served by local London bus services and taxicabs, as well as long-term and short-term parking facilities.
