Amazing Cockpit Video – C-130J Super Hercules Airshow Flight Display

This stunning video shows a Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules during flight display at Paris Airshow 2011. It includes full cockpit audio and cockpit video footage.

The Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules is the newest version of the Hercules and the only model still in production. Externally similar to the classic Hercules in general appearance, the J-model features considerably updated technology. These differences include new Rolls-Royce AE 2100 D3 turboprops with Dowty R391 composite scimitar propellers, digital avionics (including head-up displays (HUDs) for each pilot), and reduced crew requirements. These changes have improved performance over its C-130E/H predecessors, such as 40% greater range, 21% higher maximum speed, and 41% shorter takeoff distance. The J-model is available in a standard-length or stretched -30 variant.

With more than 50 years, the Hercules family has the longest continuous production run of any military aircraft in history. Fifteen nations have placed orders for a total of 300 C-130Js, of which 206 aircraft have been delivered as of December 2010.

UPDATE
After the video was taken offline, I contacted the owner to try to get it back online as soon as possible.
This was his statement:
“In truth, that video was never meant to be released, it was set to unlisted and only sent to a few individuals, (…) kinda got a bit out of hand and wasn’t cleared for release. If the USAF and Lockheed Martin agree to let me re-post it i will do”

Video back online!

  4. I hope the person that posted the cockpit video did not get censured for distributing this video as I cannot find it anywhere else on the web. It’s quite evident that military personnel recorded this, but they may not have had permission to release it. The video on Vimeo has since be modified to “Private.”

Michael, I hope you can get it posted again as I would like to show it to my son.
