This magnificent photo holds the Flightstory Flickr Photo Award of this week. The beautiful black/white shot shows a Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler taking off from Naval Air Facility El Centro (KNJK). The plane belongs to Electronic Attack Squadron One Two Nine (VAQ-129), known as the Vikings.
The Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler is an electronic warfare aircraft manufactured as a modification of the basic A-6 Intruder airframe. The EA-6B has been in service with the U.S. Armed Forces since 1971.
