Who can tell me what's going on in the Google Earth image of New York City's Laguardia Airport (LGA). There's a plane -737/A320?- in position, ready for take off on Runway 31. There appears to be another plane -also a 73 or A320- on very short final to 31. It looks like a serious runway incursion/significant aviation disaster to me. I don't know when the image was taken, but no news reports tells me nothing happened. Was it just the usual New York Terminal Area screw up and somebody had to go around? Or am I just misinterpreting the image?

Google Earth images is not one image, but a series of images mosaicked together. Google does an excellent job of making the image boundaries look seemless. Most likely the airplane on the runway is in a different image than the airplane on final approach.
